AllKids Child Safety & Protection

At AllKids, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. Since 2012, we have worked with families, schools, and the Ream community to make sure children not only have access to education but are safe, respected, and supported in every environment.

We believe every child has the right to be protected from harm, to be heard, and to grow up in a caring community. Child protection is central to our mission and part of every program we deliver.

Our Commitment

AllKids has a comprehensive Child Protection Policy that applies to all staff, volunteers, and anyone working with children in our programs. Our approach is guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Cambodian law, and international best practice.

To keep children safe, we:

Carefully screen and train all staff and volunteers.

Conduct regular (quarterly) training to help staff identify and respond to signs of abuse.

Maintain safe learning spaces and clear supervision rules.

Teach children and families about safety and self-protection.

Take immediate action in response to any concerns or allegations.

Every AllKids staff member signs a declaration to uphold these standards and to report any suspected abuse or neglect.

Training and Community Awareness

AllKids takes a proactive approach to building a culture of safety. Our team runs regular training sessions for staff, partner schools, and the broader Ream community. These workshops focus on recognising abuse, setting boundaries, promoting respect, and ensuring that every child feels safe to learn and grow.

Many of our partner schools have now adopted the AllKids Child Safety Policy as part of their own standards, helping to strengthen protection across the whole community.

Part of the ChildSafe Movement

AllKids is an affiliated member of the ChildSafe Movement, created by Friends-International in 2005.
The ChildSafe Movement works globally to engage individuals and organisations in actively protecting children and preventing abuse and exploitation. Through this partnership, AllKids receives training resources and guidance to ensure that our programs meet international child protection standards. Reporting and Accountability

If any AllKids staff member, volunteer, or community member suspects that a child may be at risk, they are required to report it immediately.
All reports are handled confidentially, and appropriate action is taken in line with our policy and Cambodian law. We believe that openness, responsibility, and continuous improvement are the best ways to keep children safe.

Visitor Guidelines

All visits to AllKids centres are by appointment only. Visitors must follow our child-safe protocols, which include:

Signing in on arrival and providing identification

Remaining with an AllKids staff member at all times

Respecting staff instructions and staying only in permitted areas

Not giving gifts, picking up children, or arranging to meet children outside the centre

Following our photography rules (only group photos; no sharing on social media)

These guidelines ensure learning is not disrupted and that children remain safe, comfortable and respected.

Volunteers at AllKids

AllKids accepts a very limited number of volunteers and generally only considers individuals who:

Have a prior connection with AllKids, and

Have skills or experience that support our teaching staff (e.g., English, Maths, IT, Art, Music)

All volunteer placements require a formal application, background checks (police clearance or Working With Children Check), and approval from senior management. Volunteers must comply with the same child-safe protocols as visitors, including supervised access, boundaries around physical contact, and restrictions on photography and gifting.
